Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational projects. Bechtel’s renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, and construction for the Sunfish 2 project, a 360 MW DC solar plant in Calhoun County, Michigan.

An Environmental Coordinator helps develop and execute the environmental component of an ES&H program. This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of best management practices for managing environmental aspects of a project or facility.

• Provides assistance in a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel’s ES&H program and ES&H Management System to include aiding in compliance with Bechtel’s ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments
• Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities
• Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions
• Performs data analysis to help identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement
• Helps identify and coordinate any unique software systems used by ES&H personnel
• Leads risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to moderately complex ES&H issues
• Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention
• Assists with incident notifications, investigations, and reporting
• Recommends improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential
• Participates in and supports employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs
• Coordinates ES&H recognition programs
• Provides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines

Education and Experience Requirements:

Typically a university hire with 1–2 years of experience or 5–6 years of relevant work experience.

• Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing abilities.
• Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of environmental management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and applicable agencies’ permitting processes and responsibilities.
• Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.
