The OpportunityWe are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Battle Creek that are seeking skilled Metrology Technicians. Key Responsibilities- Perform precise dimensional inspections of manufactured components using a variety of metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator, calipers, micrometers).
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot measurement tools and test equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
- Program, set up, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for complex part inspections.
- Analyze measurement data, interpret engineering drawings (GD&T), and generate detailed inspection reports.
- Identify and document non-conforming parts or processes, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure all metrology activities comply with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
- Develop and optimize measurement methods and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficiency in operating and programming a range of metrology equipment (e.g., CMMs, vision systems, calipers, micrometers).
- Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Experience with metrology software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and data analysis tools.
- Technical degree or certification in metrology, quality assurance, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso).
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab) for process improvement.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements or quality system audits.
- Experience with advanced non-contact metrology systems (e.g., laser scanning, vision systems).
- Ability to develop and optimize inspection procedures and work instructions.
