General Summary
The College of Aviation at Western Michigan University invites applications for an academic year, tenure-track faculty position. With three distinct programs, the College offers faculty the opportunity to teach within a specific area or across multiple disciplines, while actively supporting students, colleagues, and staff. This position presents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative academic community.
Major Duties
- Teach up to 12 credits in the fall and spring semesters for a total of no more than 24 credits of regularly scheduled courses, or the equivalent, over an academic year.
- Fulfill ongoing department curriculum needs of both a maintenance and developmental nature.
- Provide leadership and service to academic and professional societies through roles in governance, editorial work, conference coordination, and committee participation to support their effective and impactful operation.
- Support university operations through committee service and consultation with campus and community stakeholders.
- Assist students with course advising, consulting, and individual mentoring.
- Encourage and support student involvement in student organizations and internships.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, writing, and publication appropriate to the faculty member’s discipline or interdisciplinary work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- FAA pilot certification to include a minimum CPL / CFI or ATP.
- Significant related industry experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Flight Operations
- Management
- Finance
- Supply Chain Management
- Safety
- Security
- Human Factors
- Excellent communication and computer skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated history of research and grant writing.
- Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
- College teaching experience.
