Job Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is undertaking a greenfield initiative to design and build foundational infrastructure and platform solutions. We are seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff to contribute to the architecture, design, and development of this next-generation system. This is a rare opportunity to work on a zero-to-one project and help shape the foundations of OCI’s future infrastructure.

As a Senior Leader and individual contributor, you will drive innovation in major technical components within the platform, translating high-level goals into scalable designs and delivering reliable, cloud-native solutions. You will collaborate with Architects and senior engineers to define system architecture, make thoughtful trade-offs, and contribute to a shared technical vision.

In this role, you will take ownership of complex technical areas, lead design reviews, and be a hands‑on contributor throughout the software development lifecycle. You’ll also help elevate engineering quality across the team by mentoring peers, advocating for best practices, and contributing to process and tooling improvements.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in networking, distributed systems, experience building infrastructure platforms, and a passion for tackling open‑ended problems with pragmatism and creativity.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience in greenfield or large-scale systems design.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing high-scale, reliable systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
  • Experience with cloud‑native design patterns, CI/CD, service observability, and API development.
  • Familiarity with Dev Ops tools and practices, and an understanding of infrastructure‑as‑code principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, team‑oriented mindset.
