Position:
Senior Diesel Technician – Ryder Truck Fleet, Baton Rouge, LA
Type:
Permanent Full‑Time Senior Level Diesel Technician
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, First Shift 7:00 am–3:30 pm
Pay: $30.16 per hour (minimum) plus bonuses and benefits.
Benefits- Hourly pay $30.16 per hour
- Certification bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification obtained
- Quarterly bonus up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑on bonus $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
- Annual merit pay increases each year

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification (preferred)
- Three years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid commercial driver license Class A (preferred)
- Must have minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty equipment
- Basic tools required
- Basic diagnostics and repairs of AC and electrical systems (required)
- Knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background and motor vehicle check
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer
- Complete complex detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
