Diesel Mechanic Technician

Senior Diesel Technician – Ryder Truck Fleet, Baton Rouge, LA

Permanent Full‑Time Senior Level Diesel Technician

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, First Shift 7:00 am–3:30 pm

Pay: $30.16 per hour (minimum) plus bonuses and benefits.

• Hourly pay $30.16 per hour

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification (preferred)
• Three years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
• Valid commercial driver license Class A (preferred)
• Must have minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty equipment
• Basic tools required
• Basic diagnostics and repairs of AC and electrical systems (required)
• Knowledge of computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background and motor vehicle check

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer
• Complete complex detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
