• Perform routine maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Apply system knowledge to match customer needs with sales opportunities and perform rapid, accurate diagnoses.
• Manage truck inventory responsibly, including ordering, receiving, billing, and maintaining parts with minimal waste. Maintain a clean vehicle and perform scheduled maintenance.
• Complete necessary documentation and electronic communication thoroughly and professionally, utilizing hand-held devices for paperwork and invoicing.
• Utilize mirrors, flashlights, and other tools to inspect joints, install PVC drain pipes, set and trim cases, install and adjust glass doors, use temperature sensors, braze and solder, and determine coil layouts.
• Identify pipe sizes and fittings visually, perform refrigerant and oil conversions, test oils, and weld various metals and joints.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and properly size thermostatic expansion valves.
• Understand pressure regulators related to gases, refrigerant flow controls, TEV troubleshooting, and schematic diagrams.
• Demonstrate knowledge of low/high-pressure oil systems, controls, startup procedures, EMS, CO2 refrigeration, airflow testing, VFDs, defrost types, recovery setup, torch setup, compressor parameters, system layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Work with gauges, scales, recovery equipment, motors, compressor parameters, and oil management systems.
• Detect and repair leaks, solder joints, diagnose and replace compressors, troubleshoot complex service calls, and manage oil levels.
• Mentor other technicians and lead HVAC/R preventive maintenance programs.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma/GED required; HVAC-R Technical School Degree preferred.

Experience:

• External candidates: 7 years in the field or 5 years with technical certification.
• Internal candidates: 3 years as a certified technician with completed OJT and skills assessment.

Additional Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Physical ability to walk, crouch, climb, work at heights, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, highly motivated.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems preferred.
• Leadership skills and business acumen.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• Strong decision-making and documentation skills.
