• Perform prescribed, routine maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Utilize system knowledge to match customer needs with sales opportunities and perform rapid, accurate diagnoses.
• Manage truck inventory, order and maintain parts responsibly, and keep the vehicle in good condition.
• Complete necessary documentation and electronic communication thoroughly and professionally, using hand-held devices.
• Check joints, install PVC drain pipes, set and trim cases, install and adjust glass doors, use temperature sensors, and perform brazing and soldering with minimal supervision.
• Identify pipe sizes and fittings, perform refrigerant and oil conversions, and test oils during conversions.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and size thermostatic expansion valves correctly.
• Understand pressure regulators, refrigerant flow controls, TEV troubleshooting, and schematic diagrams.
• Demonstrate knowledge of low/high pressure oil systems, controls, startup procedures, EMS controls, CO2 refrigeration, and electrical wiring diagrams.
• Detect and repair leaks, solder joints, diagnose compressors, and troubleshoot complex service calls.
• Mentor other technicians and lead HVAC/R preventive maintenance programs.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma/GED required; HVAC-R Technical School Degree preferred.

Experience:

• External candidates: 7 years in the field or 5 years with technical school certification.
• Internal candidates: 3 years as a Certified Technician with completed OJT & Skills Assessment.

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to walk, crouch, climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and motivation.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends if needed.
• Knowledge of basic refrigeration or commercial refrigeration preferred.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
• Strong decision-making and paperwork skills.
