Archaeological Crew Chief

General Responsibilities

Supervise crews of Archaeological Technicians during projects, ensuring the crew is following project-specific requirements for data collection.

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Responsible for supervising small crews of Archaeological Technicians during field projects.
• Maintains field equipment and supplies.
• Ensures the field crew is following project-specific requirements for data collection.
• Assists Archaeologist with conducting background research.
• Helps writes simple technical reports under the supervision of more senior staff.
• Assists Archaeologist with finding the necessary field personnel for specific projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or above.
• Intermediate knowledge of artifact identification, regional culture history, appropriate field methodologies, soils, and stratigraphy.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

• Registered Archaeologist (RA)
• Graduate Degree in archaeology, history, or a closely related field
