Job Overview
The Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and drying all china, glassware, silverware and other equipment returned to the dish hall station by server assistants or from other employees. Additionally, this position may be responsible for ensuring that all tables are kept clean and presentable with clean china, glassware, silverware and linen.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must be able to work well in stressful, high‑pressure situations, including ability to handle guest objections and disputes to satisfactory results.
- Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes a necessity.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with service standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
- Comply at all times with service standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Maintains the dish washing station.
- Organizes and places items in trays for washing machine.
- Operates washing machine and dries items before returning them to their proper stock location.
- Washes items by hand that will not fit in machine or not intended for automatic wash before drying and returning those items to their proper location.
- Helps fellow employees as needed to ensure the restaurant meets guest volume and completes assigned side duties.
- Understands and follows safety and sanitation practices and works with clean and sanitized tools (bus tubs, towels, broom, dustpan, floor sweeper).
- Performs duties that require standing, fast movement throughout the kitchen area.
- Performs side duties including cleaning vents, scrubbing trash cans, cleaning gum from underneath the tables, detailed cleaning of chairs, cleaning of ice bins, replacing light bulbs, setting up sanitizers, cleaning floor sweepers, emptying trash, and taking trash to the dumpster.
