Job Description

This role is a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The position supports plasma center operations under guidance from the Center Manager/Assistant Manager and under medical management from the Center Physician. The role requires commitment to customer service and quality and compliance with plasma collection regulations.

About the role

The Medical Support Specialist determines donor eligibility, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable test results. The specialist follows SOPs, provides health and safety support, and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.

How you will contribute
  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician’ standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is needed, referencing occupational health/ER guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.
What you bring to Takeda
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Bio Life Compensation and Benefits Summary

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $23.85 – $32.79. The actual wage offered may reflect qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, subject to state or local minimum wage requirements.

U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, and wellness benefits. Employees may receive up to 80 hours of sick time per year and up to 120 hours of paid vacation as a new hire.
