Registered Nurse – General Surgery Clinic – Baton Rouge

Ochsner Health invites you to serve as a Registered Nurse in our General Surgery Clinic in Baton Rouge. You will provide patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. You will delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members; assume accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibit cultural sensitivity;

and support the company’s nursing philosophy.

• Required – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

• Required – None.
• Preferred – Experience directly supervising or managing others.

• Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
• Required – Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Preferred – Certification in clinical specialty area.

• Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed and demonstrate good judgment.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Leadership skills.

• Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.

• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serve as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embrace concepts that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Heavy work: lift 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or 10–20 pounds constantly; tasks involve walking, standing or moving objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids and tissues, and hazardous medications or waste is possible in patient care areas.
