Job Summary

The Manager of Burn Inpatient, Burn Outpatient, ET Inpatient, and MACU services provides comprehensive clinical and operational leadership across all areas of burn care. The role ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care with a strong focus on operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, team development, and exceptional patient and family experience. This leader drives program growth, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and upholds BRG’s standards of Everyday Excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Staff Management:
    Lead, mentor, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff across inpatient and outpatient burn services.
  • Leadership & Staff Management:
    Manage staffing, scheduling, skill mix, and acuity-based assignments.
  • Leadership & Staff Management:
    Oversee onboarding, training, competency validation, and ongoing professional development.
  • Leadership & Staff Management:
    Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and engagement.
  • Leadership & Staff Management:
    Address staff concerns, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Clinical & Operational Management:
    Direct daily operations of Burn Inpatient & Outpatient, ET Inpatient, and MACU.
  • Clinical & Operational Management:
    Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based burn care including wound care, dressing changes, and debridement.
  • Clinical & Operational Management:
    Coordinate patient flow, including admissions, discharges, transfers, and clinic scheduling.
  • Clinical & Operational Management:
    Ensure adequate supplies, equipment functionality, and resource availability.
  • Clinical & Operational Management:
    Maintain readiness for burn emergencies and disaster response protocols.
  • Clinical & Operational Management:
    Support interdisciplinary communication and collaboration among physicians, surgeons, therapists, and case management.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance:
    Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, ABLS standards, burn-care clinical protocols, and BRG policies.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance:
    Monitor infection control practices, patient outcomes, documentation quality, and incident reporting.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance:
    Lead and participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance:
    Ensure medication safety, EMR documentation accuracy, and adherence to clinical guidelines.
  • Patient & Family

    Experience:

    Promote consistent patient- and family-centered care practices.

    Address patient and family concerns in a timely, professional manner.

    Experience:

    Support patient education, discharge planning, and coordinated follow-up across care settings.
  • Financial & Resource Management:
    Participate in budget planning, monitoring, and resource forecasting for all burn services.
  • Financial & Resource Management:
    Optimize supply usage, staffing efficiency, equipment procurement, and operational workflows.
  • Financial & Resource Management:
    Assist in controlling costs while maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Program Development & Community Outreach:
    Contribute to program expansion, strategic development, and improvement of burn services.
  • Program Development & Community Outreach:
    Participate in policy development, protocol updates, and implementation of best practices.
  • Program Development & Community Outreach:
    Support community outreach, education initiatives, and partnerships that advance burn care services.
Qualifications

Education

  • Required:

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Louisiana RN license.
  • Required:

    BLS, ACLS
  • Preferred: PALS and ABLS (or ability to obtain within designated timeframe).
  • Burn nursing or specialty certification preferred.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of clinical experience in burn, critical care, or related specialty.
  • 2–3 years of leadership/management experience in a healthcare setting.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong burn and critical care clinical expertise.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
  • EMR proficiency and understanding of basic financial management.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced acute and outpatient environments with complex burn injuries.
  • Requires frequent standing, lifting, patient movement, and PPE use.
