Night shift supervisor, Management

Position Summary

The Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of crews during overnight hours. This role ensures that all scheduled routes are completed to municipal or contract standards, equipment is maintained, and safety protocols are strictly followed in low-visibility conditions. The Night Shift Supervisor reports to the CEO of the company and is federally classified as an Exempt employee.

• Team Leadership: Direct, train, and supervise a team of 3 to 8 operators and laborers. Manage shift scheduling and conduct "tailgate" safety briefings before deployment.
• Route Management: Assign nightly routes and monitor progress via GPS or field checks to ensure 100% completion and quality control.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce all DOT and OSHA regulations. Ensure all vehicles have functioning beacons, reflective markings, and that staff are wearing proper high-visibility PPE.
• Equipment Oversight: Perform pre- and post-trip inspections. Address any mechanical issues or emergency repairs as needed during the shift.
• Incident Response: Act as the primary point of contact for accidents, equipment breakdowns, or weather-related delays. Complete necessary documentation and reporting.
• Reporting: Maintain digital or paper logs of mileage, debris tonnage, and fuel consumption.

• Experience: 2-4 years in municipal services, landscaping, or construction; 1+ years in a leadership role.
• Licenses: Valid Driver's License (CDL Class A or
  
  B)
• Schedule: Must be able to work consistent overnight hours (7:00 PM – 4:00 AM).
• Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Tech Savvy: Comfortable using fleet management software, GPS tracking, and digital reporting apps.

• Safety Record: Maintaining a shift free of preventable accidents or injuries.
• Equipment Longevity: Ensuring operators are not "riding the brooms" too hard, reducing unnecessary wear and tear.
• Efficiency and Productivity: Ensuring targets are hit and crews remain on schedule.
• Reliability: Showing up punctually, operating with high integrity and encouraging the crew to do the same.
