Instrumentation Fitter Job Description
- Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, datasheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches.
- Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components of ground hardware, test, and integration equipment.
- Fabricate and install parts and systems used in launch environments using hand tools, power tools, and test instruments.
- Work with various sizes of pipes and valves.
- Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors.
- Install connectors, connector pins, terminals, and lugs.
- Collaborate with launch engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from launch activities.
- Perform maintenance tasks as required in a variety of roles for vehicle integration, pad maintenance, site preventative maintenance, general facilities, and other maintenance work to maintain an operational launch site.
- 3+ years of experience in tube bending, hand bending, and customizing pipes.
- Proficiency in using computers or iPads.
- Experience with piping and instrumentation design (P&) software.
- Knowledge of benders such as Swagelok, Ridgid, and Parker.
- Understanding of offset formulas and signal conditioning concepts.
- Experience with control panels, calibration, and electrical systems.
Skills & Qualifications
- Oil & gas or pharmaceutical backgrounds are preferred.
- Experience with medium and high-pressure systems.
- 3+ years of experience using power tools in a professional capacity.
- 1+ years of experience with electronic system assembly and construction.
- Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns.
- Associate degree in instrumentation, control technology, electrical systems, or related field.
- System-level troubleshooting skills and ability to logically solve instrumentation system problems.
- Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, One Note).
- Experience and working knowledge of various valves, pressure regulators, and valve actuators.
- Experience with hydraulics and metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with common fittings (MS, AN, NPT, Swagelok).
Work in an indoor, climate-controlled, state-of-the-art facility with a rotating schedule: 10 days on days, 10 days on nights. Shifts include Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday, with hours from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm or 6:30 pm to 6:00 am
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
