Senior Driller

Responsibilities

• Perform standard penetrometer testing operations, including boring and Geoprobe work.
• Operate Geoprobe unit for the collection of soil and Cone Penetration Test (CPT) data.
• Complete drilling operations by operating the drill (rotary, churn, and pneumatic); monitor progress; adjust bit weight and rotary speed; change bits; remove debris; operate related equipment (gasoline, diesel, electric, or steam draw works).
• Locate borings in the field.
• Record all required drilling data.
• Report project-specific issues directly to the project manager and/or supervisor.
• Perform drill rig and support truck maintenance; report repair and maintenance issues to the Drilling Supervisor.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems, including electrical or hydraulic issues.
• Safely and accurately load the drill rig and support vehicles with daily supplies.
• Plan daily schedules to meet productivity goals set by the Drilling Supervisor and/or Office Manager.
• Accurately complete time sheets and field paperwork in a timely manner.
• Care for and clean assigned company vehicles and drilling equipment and any other assigned equipment.
• Maintain professional behavior and uphold quality standards.
• Train and mentor Drilling Helper and Drillers.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound work environment by following organizational standards and legal regulations; prevent spills; wear personal protective equipment; store and maintain hazardous materials.
• Willingness to work out of town and on non-standard work schedules when required.

• High School diploma or GED.
• 5 – 8 years of experience.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Position requires carrying 40 – 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting up to 85 lbs to waist height.
