Spanish Translator - Part-Time

BASIS Baton Rouge Materra Campus is seeking a Part-Time Bilingual Spanish Translator to support our school community!

The role of the Bilingual Spanish Translator is to support communication between school staff and Spanish-speaking students and families by providing accurate written translation and verbal interpretation when needed. This role helps ensure that important school information is clearly communicated and accessible to all members of the school community.

This is a part-time position requiring approximately 2–3 hours per week
, with scheduling based on campus needs.

Required Qualifications:

• Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal)
• Strong written communication and translation skills
• A valid fingerprint clearance and/or satisfactory applicable state background check
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous translation or interpretation experience
• Experience working in an educational or school environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Essential Functions:

• Translate written communications between English and Spanish, including emails, school announcements, and informational materials
• Provide verbal interpretation for meetings, phone calls, or conferences as needed
• Support communication between school staff and Spanish-speaking families
• Ensure translations maintain the original tone, intent, and accuracy of the message
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive student or family information
• Assist campus administration with translation needs as they arise
• Maintain regular, predictable attendance
