POSITION PURPOSE

Working without supervision (and with extensive latitude for independent judgment) design, develop, document, test, debug, and support new and existing software systems and/or applications built on the Service Now cloud-based workflow automation PaaS. This includes implementation of out-of-the-box SaaS Service Now offerings such as ITOM, ITFM, ITAM, ITBM/SPM, Virtual Agents, AI, as well as Service Now Mobile applications, at the Pro or Enterprise level.

It would also include custom applications built on the Now Platform as needed by the business. Accountable for complying with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

  • Necessary Contacts:
    To do this job effectively the incumbent has to be in contact with all levels of BCBSLA personnel.
  • Necessary Decision Making: to do this role effectively the incumbent has to make and support technical decisions which lead the Service Now platform and the organization in a strategic direction.
QUALIFICATIONS Education
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field
  • MBA or Masters in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is preferred. Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Work Experience
  • 7 years of software development experience required. Must have a minimum of five years of IT experience using general development technologies (i.e., C#, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST, Git/Git Hub) or comparable computing technology (i.e. .NET, Java, BI, ERP) or comparable cloud platform (Salesforce, Power Platform, Work Day, SAP, Oracle Cloud, etc) as approved by the hiring manager.
  • 4 years of Service Now experience. Platform management, Module Implementation, Upgrade Management. Experience may run concurrently
  • 2 years of:
    Creating Custom Applications on Service Now Platform, Dev Ops, Automation, web technologies such as AJAX, JQUERY, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular

    JS, React, Node.js, Python, XML, SOAP, REST, JSON, Jelly, etc. Experience my run concurrently
  • Demonstrated experience leading the technical design and development of Service Now solutions across ITSM, CMDB, ITOM, SPM, CSM, Now Agents and custom applications.
  • Preferred Integration

    Experience:

    Exposure to Oauth2, API management, SSO, SAML, and other security/integration technologies preferred

  • Ability to think strategically, balance long and short-term priorities. Requires the knowledge and ability to analyze and solve complex, logical problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidence with clients; establish strong working relationships with business and technology partners at all levels; exercise sound judgment; collaborate effectively with peers, subordinates and superiors
  • Must understand and have experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to adapt to change. Must be able to work in Agile fashion. Scrum / SAFe / Dev Ops
  • Ability to develop and deploy software in Dev Ops, CI/CD Environment.
  • Ability to keep up with fast changing cloud technologies such as Service Now, Azure, AWS.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Understanding of business operations and key business drivers (or aptitude to develop understanding quickly)
  • The candidate must be flexible in terms of working practices as the role requires on call rotation which might include some evening, weekend and holiday work.
  • Develop new ideas to the team and influence the department in a positive direction based on strategic thinking.
Licenses and Certifications
  • A proven background of Service Now Developer, Admin and Product training is expected. This can be certifications, Now Learning history, conference attendance, user group attendance, developer forum…
