The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking an IT Info Sec Engineer to join the Information Technology Division. This division plays an important role in protecting the agency’s computer networks, systems, and sensitive regulatory data while supporting the continuity of operations for one of Louisiana’s largest regulatory agencies. In this position, you’ll engineer and maintain complex cybersecurity solutions, respond to security incidents, develop security policies and procedures, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to strengthen the agency’s information security posture.
The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on cybersecurity technologist with strong engineering expertise and experience using automation, scripting, data analytics, or artificial intelligence to enhance threat detection and security operations.
- Seven years of information technology experience; OR
- Six years of full‑time experience in any field plus five years of information technology experience; OR
- An associate’s degree in information technology plus five years of information technology experience; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus five years of information technology experience; OR
- A bachelor’s degree with twenty‑four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus four years of information technology experience; OR
- A master’s degree plus four years of information technology experience.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NoteA certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties- Serve as the agency’s primary information security consultant and technical expert supporting the Louisiana Department of Insurance’s information security program.
- Engineer and implement complex cybersecurity solutions to protect agency networks, systems, and sensitive regulatory data.
- Lead incident response efforts related to cybersecurity threats, intrusions, or breaches and coordinate with law enforcement or other appropriate authorities when necessary.
- Work with agency divisions to identify vulnerabilities and implement security improvements across systems and applications.
- Develop and recommend information security standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to strengthen the agency’s cybersecurity posture.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to management and staff regarding cybersecurity risks, controls, and best practices.
- Develop maintenance and security plans for critical technologies to support system reliability and continuity of agency operations.
- Estimate costs and develop technical specifications to support the procurement of cybersecurity technologies and solutions.
- Develop and deliver information security training and awareness materials for agency staff.
- Assist with special projects and other information security initiatives as assigned.
