Senior Software Developer (AI/ML integration)

Senior Software Developer supporting the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). Fully remote; must reside in the United States.

• Lead end‑to‑end solution design, coding, code reviews, and integration for enterprise applications.
• Guide PoCs and pilots from concept to scalable, production‑ready implementations.
• Mentor developers; enforce coding standards, test automation, and quality gates.
• Provide inputs to weekly status reporting, risk/issue logs, and stakeholder communications.
• Produce and maintain required technical artifacts (scaling plans, system design docs, test strategies, risk analyses, DR/runbooks).
• Support briefings/demos, technical reviews, and repository hygiene/version control.
• Partner with UX, data engineering, Dev Ops, security, and program management to deliver mission‑ready increments.

• 7+ years of software development, 3+ years in a senior/lead role.
• Proven delivery in Agile environments with CI/CD and Dev Sec Ops .
• Experience modernizing or integrating legacy systems into cloud platforms.
• Advanced AI/ML integration experience (wrapping or deploying ML models in production) preferred.
• Zero‑Trust security or service mesh architecture knowledge (Istio, Linkerd) preferred.
• Experience scaling proofs of concept into enterprise production systems preferred.
• Previous experience in regulated/federal government environments is a plus.
• Strong desire to support HUD OCIO or other federal agencies.
• Ability to pass required federal background screening and obtain and maintain government clearance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

• Languages:
  
  Java, C#, Python, and/or Type Script/JavaScript.
• Architectures: RESTful APIs, microservices, event‑driven patterns.
• Cloud/Platform: AWS/Azure services, Docker, Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform/ARM).
• Data: RDBMS, No
  
  SQL design/performance; messaging/streaming a plus.
• CI/CD & QA:
  Git workflows, pipelines, test automation (JUnit/xUnit, Cypress/Playwright/Selenium).
• Security:
  Secure SDLC, secrets/access management, compliance‑aware engineering.

• Technical leadership and mentoring; pragmatic architecture and delivery focus.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Proactive risk/issue management; ownership of outcomes.
• Commitment to accessibility, CX improvement, reliability, and maintainability.

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Preferred:
  Certified Scrum Developer (CSD), AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or Microsoft Azure Developer/Architect certification.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
