Make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Louisiana. As a Community Service Professional (CSP) 1–3 with the Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities
, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals and families access the services and supports they need.
In this role, you’ll review and assess Developmental Disabilities Request for Services Registry data, evaluate individuals seeking services, and apply Urgency of Need criteria using established state and federal guidelines. You’ll work directly with individuals with disabilities, their families, healthcare providers, and partner agencies—using strong communication and assessment skills to guide informed, compassionate decisions. ResponsibilitiesConduct person-centered interviews requesting Waiver services, complete screening for the Urgency of Need (SUN) tool, and assign level of need based on results of the SUN. Administers comprehensive assessments for individuals with open cases on the OCDD Developmental Disabilities Request for Services Registry, including coordinating appointments and conducting interviews in person, by phone, or virtually.
Reviews medical, psychological, educational, and other professional documentation to evaluate unmet needs, eligibility, level of urgency, and potential risks to the individual’s health or safety.
Assesses home environment, living situation, functional abilities, existing supports, and future service needs to determine urgency for waiver and other developmental disability services.
Identifies specific unmet service needs based on screening results, prepares recommended Urgency of Need scores, and determines appropriate programs or services to address identified needs.
Provides referrals to public and community-based agencies and resources, and advises individuals and their representatives on how to apply for recommended services.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation related to registry and assessment activities, including validating demographic information, preparing correspondence, uploading data into web-based systems, and generating required reports.
Serves as a liaison with local and state agencies, advocacy organizations, private providers, and legal entities, including preparing case summaries and representing OCDD at administrative and fair hearings as needed.
