The Hospice Care Consultant (HCC) is responsible for modeling Compassus values and promoting the Compassus philosophy using the 6 Pillars of Success. The HCC upholds the Code of Ethical Conduct and fosters positive working relationships within the company and with external stakeholders. The HCC is tasked with growing Compassus' market share within a defined Book of Business by building strong relationships with healthcare providers, identifying eligible patients, and helping ensure timely and appropriate admissions.

This role is focused on growing hospice admissions to meet or exceed defined admissions and market share growth goals through opening new accounts and expanding share within existing accounts. The ideal candidate combines sales ability with compassion, resilience, and the ability to support patients, families, and healthcare partners during highly sensitive times.

Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Drive significant growth within the assigned book of business by opening new accounts and expanding existing accounts. Leverage Compassus-provided tools to identify new opportunities through detailed market analysis.
  • Secure referrals from physicians, staff, and administrators and partner with the operations team to ensure all clinically-eligible patients are rapidly admitted.
  • Own meeting or exceeding weekly performance goals and grow productivity levels in line with tenure-based company expectations.
  • Cultivate and manage strong, trust-based relationships with referral sources using a personal, needs-based consultative sales approach.
  • Demonstrate compassion and empathy to patients and families; maintain resilience in the face of emotional challenges inherent to hospice care.
  • Prioritize the patient and be prepared to work outside standard business hours (evenings and weekends) to ensure timely support and service for patients in need.
  • Seek feedback from referral sources on service levels and responsiveness; relay insights to the operations team and help facilitate change where needed.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and readiness to embrace change (e.g., business priorities, team structure, market dynamics) as they arise; do what’s required to support the team and business.
  • Provide clinical training and education to referral partners to help improve understanding of hospice care.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business strongly preferred.
  • Five (5) years of successful sales experience in relevant roles.
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals with the ability to grow new accounts.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills that drive growth in long-standing accounts.
  • Experience in Hospice, Home Health, or Healthcare industry preferred, but top-performing sales professionals who understand hospice care are encouraged to apply.

    Ability to communicate effectively with senior-level accounts; read, analyze, and interpret business materials; write reports and correspondence; present information and respond to questions.

    Proficiency in English; articulates hospice philosophy; adaptable to job, environmental, and industry changes; capable of managing assigned accounts, driving utilization, and engaging key stakeholders with a professional presence.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity includes close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Adaptations can be made for disabilities.
