Role Summary
This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in an assigned geography. The Director, Oncology Priority Accounts will lead major accounts and improve market access for the product portfolio by implementing brand strategies with key national and regional customers to achieve targets and gain market share. The role involves managing relationships with senior partners at target accounts, understanding their needs, and delivering mutually advantageous solutions through business plans.
Responsibilities- Understand the needs of the customer at all levels from departments to C-suite, leveraging insights to proactively anticipate and articulate business priorities to deliver outcomes.
- Craft strategic approaches to further goals, catering to the account's interests and needs, and foster key customer relationships that enhance interaction with the account.
- Lead strategy and execution prior to and during launch by coordinating collaboration among headquarters, account, and regional leadership teams.
- Collaborate with account executives at the C-suite and D-suite levels, acting as the main oncology contact for account partners to facilitate exchanges with executives and headquarters.
- Foster teamwork across departments to engage various functional areas and connect with stakeholders to solve problems and remove obstacles.
- Own account performance across the portfolio with a performance-driven mindset, identify opportunities to impact demand generation, and ensure achievement of account targets.
- Facilitate efficient communication between Novartis and key accounts, and coordinate with internal teams to relay strategic changes that align with company objectives and vision.
- Manage several high-priority accounts, with at least one notably complex and influential within Novartis Oncology.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university. - Required:
10+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similar industries with large, geographically dispersed teams; includes at least 2 cross-functional roles or experiences. Experience in other complex environments (medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences services, insurance, consumer health, or B2B) is welcomed, especially where strong field leadership and customer engagement are central. - Required:
2+ years in project management and translation of strategy into execution. - Required:
2+ years leading complex projects requiring cross-functional and national alignment. - Required:
Track record of exceptional performance and execution that drives results, strong influencing skills, and tact and diplomacy in stressful situations. - Required:
Residence within the territory or within 100 miles of the territory border; travel 60-80% over a broad geography; valid driver’s license. - Preferred: 3+ years in account management covering Academic Medical Centers, Integrated Health Systems, GPOs, and/or large oncology networks.
- Preferred:
Experience in the oncology therapeutic area with insight to support impact for patients and partners.
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
- Driving is an essential function of the role; a fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
