To process reusable medical/surgical supplies and equipment by proper decontamination and re‑sterilization techniques.

• Decontaminates, sterilizes and monitors Central Sterile Processing equipment according to department standards and JCAHO guidelines.

• Adheres to practices to safeguard employees from accidental exposure.
• Performs decontamination techniques according to policy & procedure.
• Packs and labels med/surg supplies and equipment accurately and logs each article in the sterilizer Log Book.
• Loads sterilizer properly with med/surg supplies and equipment, and sterilizes according to established protocols.
• Maintains cleanliness of Central Sterile Processing area and monitors accordingly.
• Monitors sterilizer functions by use of a Bowie Dick Test, chemical and biological indicators, temperature graphs/tape printouts for all sterilizers.
• Maintains accurate log of sterilizer maintenance by Biomedical Engineering department and Advanced Sterilization Products & Services.
