Audiologist- PART TIME - Baton Rouge

Overview

At Ochsner Health, this position administers a variety of diagnostic audiological exams; counsels patients, families and physicians regarding test results, and reviews options that best meet their hearing healthcare needs. Performs audiological services in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders for people of all ages. Evaluates, orders, and dispenses hearing aids and cochlear implants. 35 hours a week - part time.

Required - Master’s degree in Audiology, or a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) in the state of practice.

Required - 1 year of experience in the audiology field.

Required - Current hearing aid license in state of practice.

Preferred - Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally to patients and other stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Clinical skills indicative of a Board-certified audiologist.
• Ability to identify, test, diagnose and manage hearing disorders in all populations.
• Ability to counsel patients regarding hearing healthcare and treatment/management options.
• Ability to perform Auditory Brainstem Response testing, Vestibular assessments, otoscopies and ear impressions.
• Working knowledge of hearing loss prevention methods to educate the public.
• Ability to organize time and prioritize duties within deadlines.
• Ability to work with medically complex patients in a caring and respectful manner.

• Assess auditory function in normal hearing and hearing-impaired patients of all ages.
• Communicate educational, medical, and diagnostic information to patients and families clearly and concisely.
• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiological evaluations, newborn hearing screenings and otoacoustic emissions.
• Assess candidacy for hearing aids and implantable devices and provide rehabilitation options to ensure the best outcome.
• Coordinate scheduling and other appointment types to facilitate the department’s operations.
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees and participate in in-services/education programs.
• Fit and calibrate hearing aids and conduct auditory brainstem response evaluations as needed.
• Adapt communication to the specific patient population, including privacy, explanation of services, and consent.
• Perform other related duties as required.
