Job Purpose
The Psychologist is responsible for the provision of clinical behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults. Provides psychological assessment, diagnosis and individual and family therapy, referral, and follow‑up. The Psychologist provides training and consultation to primary care providers in the competency of managing mild to moderate anxiety and depression. They also assist with establishing and enhancing referral network. The Psychologist works with administrative, nursing and providers to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote the mission of OHCC.

- Accepts responsibility for ensuring that performance meets the standards of the professional, ethical and relevant department requirements and OHCC core values.
- The Psychologist will provide care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy and practice agreements.
- Clinical Practice
- Conducts diagnostic evaluations, assigns appropriate DSM and ICD diagnoses and provides treatment for patients of the health center.
- Evaluate patients through observations, tests, surveys, interviews, and other methods.
- Prescribe and implement treatment consistent with a patient’s diagnosis and relevant standards of care
- Provide crisis intervention
- Consult with staff to develop diagnoses and treatment plans in accordance with the needs of their patients
- Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary, integrated practice to develop and deliver treatment plans to patients.
- Performing psychopharmacologic treatment, medication management and individual therapy in consultation with medical providers.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic record
- Communicates progress over the telephone and via the electronic record, as appropriate.

- Work with and support primary care providers to provide the best possible patient care
- Participates in development, evaluates and implements standards of care within area of specialization (policies, protocols, etc).
- Communication and Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with mid‑level providers, other health professionals and health related agencies.
- Works effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
- Promotes mutual respect and trust working within a team model.
- Communicates effectively with patients and families, incorporating gender, age, culture, race, religion, disabilities and sexual orientation.

- Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Louisiana
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
