This vacancy is located in Baton Rouge at the Office of Motor Vehicles Headquarters
, Executive Section in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Incumbent exercises supervision over a major program of a headquarters office. Incumbent is responsible for the application and enforcement of Motor Vehicle laws, rules and regulations. The incumbent manages the day-to-day functions of the Executive Section.
Four years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in the administration or enforcement of state driver's license or motor vehicle laws:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent plus six years of experience in any field.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
May be required to possess a current Louisiana driver s license at the time of appointment.

Job Duties:
- Maintains direct authority over all work performed in accordance with State Statutes (i.e. Title 32 - Motor Vehicles and Traffic Regulations; Title 47 - Collection of Sales Tax and Vehicle Registration License Tax, etc.). Federal laws (i.e., Federal Truth in Mileage Act of 1986, Pipeline Reauthorization Act of 1988, Public Law 100
-561), and Departmental rules and regulations governing the evaluation and processing of motor vehicle documentation for the issuance of titles, registrations, to insure receipt of correct revenues due. Compliance with these laws can have a direct impact on the registered owners of over 6,000,000 vehicles registered with the Office of Motor Vehicles. - Directs the planning and organization of the activities of the Motor Vehicle Compliance Analyst involved in the complex technical work utilizing extensive knowledge of all state and federal laws and Departmental rules and regulations governing the processing, recording and issuance of vehicle registrations/certificate of titles and/or peripheral data relative to these transactions as well as transactions involving stolen vehicle files, kit cars, assembled vehicles, glider kits, claim against surety (Act 699).
Work requires analysis involving the use of interpretation and independent judgment in consideration of alternative solutions to problems in accomplishing diversified duties. Must be knowledgeable of all programs within the agency in order to apply proper application to those areas where policy has not been fully established but has a direct impact on the operations of several interacting programs. - Oversees and directs work to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness. Provides information related to performance evaluation, goal setting, and discipline. Sets up standards of operations within the unit and monitor progress. Advises personnel on technical files and resolves problems due to the complexity of the file using knowledge and ability to interpret laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Evaluates and determines information disseminated to personnel concerning any changes vital to the operation and performance of work of the unit. Directs the development of manuals necessary for daily operations based on administrative policies, new and/or revised legislation and development of the task manual necessary for the performance of the technical functions of this unit.
- Provides confidential documents and information to law enforcement daily by obtaining and certifying printouts of computer-based information, imaged facsimile and hard copies of microfilmed vehicle title records.
- Represents the department at business functions and meeting to disseminate information concerning rules, regulations and procedures followed by this unit and/or the department.

Appointment Type: This is a PROMOTIONAL opportunity for current, permanent DPS/Office of Motor Vehicles employees.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
