About this Job
The mission of the Louisiana State License and Bar Council (LSLBC) is to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public dealing with those engaged in the contracting vocation; to afford such persons an effective and practical protection against the unlawful and fraudulent acts of contractors with whom they contract; and to maintain the integrity of the construction industry.
The Board will monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with the licensure requirements of the statutes.

Minimum Qualifications- Three years of experience in the issuance, maintenance, or reinstatement of licenses; OR
- Six years of full‑time work experience in any field; OR
- A bachelor’s degree.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
- Assist with the management of case files in preparation for and conducting hearings and adjudications for contractors in violation of licensing laws, rules, and regulations.
- Schedule hearings and draft notices of violation and hearing, ensuring service of process in accordance with the Louisiana Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Assist persons appearing for a hearing, attorneys, board members, and the public.
- Prepare Findings of Facts, Conclusions of Law, and Orders of the Board for each case to be served to the parties of the case and maintained in the case files.
- Pursue service of process for board orders in accordance with the Louisiana Rules of Civil Procedure.
- May assist with special investigations, preparation of special reports, and various special projects as assigned.
- Receive, process, and analyze approximately 600 complaints per year against licensed and unlicensed persons engaged in the business of contracting.
- Communicate with complainants for additional information and documentation; answer questions and explain enforcement procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
- Assess complaints for proper routing for investigation and possible referral to other government agencies and/or law enforcement agencies.
