Office:
Fiscal Operations – School System Financial Services.
Job Focus Area:
Federal Audit Section within Division of Education Finance. Provides assurance that federal funds (ESSA, IDEA-Part B, Pre‑school CTE, CCDF) are expended allowable. Technical assistance to LEAs.
- Three years of accounting or auditing experience; OR
- Six years of full‑time experience in any field plus twenty‑four semester hours in accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems; OR
- A bachelor’s degree with twenty‑four semester hours in the same disciplines; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP) designation; OR
- An advanced degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
- Conduct financial, operational, and/or compliance type audits for an agency.
- Assist in developing an audit project program and/or testing procedures.
- Assist in preparing audit reports and follow up to determine if corrective action has been taken.
- Perform financial audits by examining a variety of fiscal documents to ascertain validity of information reported and dependability of record keeping and reporting practices.
- Perform operational audits by analyzing and testing to determine if operational effectiveness and efficiency are being achieved according to business unit strategic objectives and evaluating adequacy and effectiveness of process controls.
- Perform compliance audits by testing to identify non‑compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations or agency policies and procedures.
- May perform special audit projects and investigations as requested or required.
- Use effective sampling techniques during audits, as warranted.
- Use data processing information systems, software, and other automated tools to assist in performing audits.
Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. Regular reporting to the Baton Rouge office.
Career Progression:
Participates in a Career Progression Group and may be filled as an Auditor 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday; hours will be determined.
Compensation:
Salary based on qualifications and experience.

Hourly: $23.65 – $46.66
Monthly: $4,099.00 – $8,044.00
Annually: $49,192.00 – $96,533.00
Auditor 4 (AS‑618)
Hourly: $25.31 – $49.66
Monthly: $4,387.00 – $8,608.00
Annually: $52,645.00 – $
