The Engineering Materials Coordinator supports the Engineering team by managing material procurement, inventory control, and vendor coordination to ensure timely availability of components and supplies. This role serves as a key liaison between Engineering, vendors, and internal operations, ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, cost‑effectively, and aligned with project timelines.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a technical environment with engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities Procurement &Requisition Management
- Create and manage purchase requisitions (REQs) in support of engineering projects.
- Coordinate with Engineering to clarify specifications, quantities, and timelines.
- Track order status and proactively communicate delays or supply risks.
- Support cost control efforts by obtaining competitive quotes when required.
- Identify, onboard, and maintain relationships with approved vendors.
- Serve as primary point of contact for supplier communication related to engineering materials.
- Resolve order discrepancies, delivery issues, and quality concerns.
- Maintain vendor performance records (pricing, lead times, reliability).
- Monitor inventory levels of engineering components, parts, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP or tracking systems.
- Coordinate replenishment based on project forecasts and usage trends.
- Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits as required.
- Work closely with engineering staff to understand project material requirements.
- Assist with BOM (Bill of Materials) tracking and updates.
- Ensure materials are available to support prototyping, testing, and production schedules.
- Support continuous improvement of materials workflows and documentation processes.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in materials coordination, procurement, supply chain, or engineering support.
- Experience working in a technical, manufacturing, or engineering‑driven environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing workflows.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
- U.S. Citizenship required (due to DOD contract requirements).
- Experience supporting electrical or hardware engineering teams.
- Knowledge of electronic components and technical materials.
- Experience with inventory management systems or MRP tools.
- Understanding of BOM structures and engineering change processes.
