Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This position requires the individual to perform and lead the design, development, implementation, testing, startup and tuning of process control system automation projects. This involves knowledge of process control concepts, strong programming acumen, organizational tendencies with attention to detail, and strong computer skills. Travel to remote customer sites is required.
Key Responsibilities- Drive to the customer industrial sites on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail and awareness of potential safety hazards at all times.
- Handle multiple tasks with unexpected interruptions, working long hours without sacrificing pace.
- Lead project execution and interface with project managers on technical design, issues, progress and needs.
- Lead interface with customers on technical aspects of ongoing projects and support determining resource needs.
- Lead technical review and approval of cabinet drawings in accordance with control system manufacturer design specifications.
- Support software upgrade audits, hardware installation, control system installation and first-time power‑up inspections.
- Assist in engineering FAT, commissioning, loop checkout, startup support, and emergency services.
- Provide DCS technical support services to customers.
- Consult with customers and internal colleagues on best practices.
- Design control strategy for Basic Process Control and Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Manage project activities, programming, logic testing, simulation, FAT testing.
- Perform site SAT testing and training and support startup.
- Participate in the PSS Services Group after‑hours on‑call rotation.
- Travel (1‑4 hours) and overnight stays as needed; also travel via boat or helicopter to offshore facilities.
- Work overtime, weekends, holidays, night shifts as business needs arise.
- Drive a company‑provided vehicle.
- Work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Facilitate customer application requirements and support sales personnel.
- Build and cultivate solid business relationships.
- Attend required safety and skills training.
- Work safely (PPE, compliance). Lifting, bending, long standing required.
- Follow John H. Carter Co., Inc. policies and TCC standards, maintain knowledge of product capabilities.
- Support colleagues during overload situations.
- Assist with training and mentoring new hires; assign tasks to supporting engineers.
- Assist with project‑specific safety awareness and compliance.
