Overview (Role)

TRC is seeking a highly motivated EIT Roadway Engineer with 2-4 years of experience to join our growing transportation practice in Baton Rouge, LA
.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on Louisiana DOTD projects, be a team player, and be enthusiastic in working with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff assisting with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects, such as the design of roadways.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a team environment to help deliver transportation infrastructure design projects.
  • Lead the design effort for local projects as well as segments of larger alternative project delivery projects.
  • Lead the production of project plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates.
  • Prepare calculations for hydraulic and hydrologic analysis of storm drains, detention facilities, culverts, water quality (BMP/LID) features, and other related items.
  • Prepare calculations for roadway projects in accordance with project, municipality, or DOT design standards.
  • Be involved in all project aspects including design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction and work independently.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines counterparts (roadway, structural, utilities, etc.) to develop a comprehensive project design.
  • Efficiently produce quality deliverables while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor entry level staff and be responsible for entry level staff job tasks.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures on roadway design projects.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 2-4 years of roadway, highway, and drainage design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred.
  • Experience using computer aided engineering and design (CAD) software to prepare engineering and design documents including Micro Station, InRoads and Open Roads.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable and dependable.
