AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry‑Level Civil/Roadway Engineer for employment in either the New Orleans or Baton Rouge, LA offices. The qualified applicant should demonstrate prior experience and relevant coursework in Civil Engineering. The position supports roadway and transportation design efforts for high‑profile transportation projects involving urban roadways and highways.
Training, guidance, and development of skills needed to acquire a Professional Engineering license will be provided.
- Perform entry‑level professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks through effective mentorship.
- Work within the Highway group on the design of civil engineering projects, including local roadways, rural and urban highways, and freeways.
- Collaborate with design teams consisting of multidisciplinary design engineers and technicians.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior‑level team member and assist with tasks, including preparing engineering‑related calculations, drawings, and visual aids.
- Assist Project Team by providing engineering design support (engineering reports, design calculations, quantity and cost estimates) for roadway, hydraulics, and civil engineering design projects.
- Build analytic and design skills.
- Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Perform work in accordance with the agreed‑upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred.
- AutoCAD, Civil3D, Micro Station, Geo Pak, InRoads, Open Roads, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS experience.
- Experience designing highway/roadway and storm drainage systems preferred.
- Experience in designing traffic signal installations.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
- Employment authorization sponsorship is not available now or in the future for this position.
The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 per year.
