Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E

Overview

EFI Global is a full-service engineering, fire investigation, environmental, health and safety, and specialty consulting services firm. The company provides expert engineering, failure analysis, origin-and-cause investigations, and environmental services to various industries. The position involves forensic engineering, structural damage assessment, and failure analysis for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. A PE license is required in your state of residence.

• Provide guidance and leadership on complex engineering assignments for newer colleagues and team members with less experience.
• Survey property, casualty and liability losses at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes.
• Investigate events and failures to determine root causes.
• Collaborate with engineers, investigators, sales, operations managers, architects, developers, insurance adjusters, claims managers and attorneys to develop demand for professional services.
• Develop plans, reports and drawings to document failure analysis and causation of failures; provide expert testimony in court and/or depositions.
• Determine applicable engineering practices to meet scope of work, timelines, and cost estimates; document billable hours for failure analysis and engineering projects.
• Support and leverage EFI’s national network of forensic experts on projects.
• Deliver comprehensive engineering analyses to clients across industries and engage with a diverse client base.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, minimum requirement for resident state; multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record preferred.
• Experience with expert testimony is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work in a dynamic, autonomous environment.

• Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr.
