Join EFI Global as a Forensic Mechanical Engineer, P.E. The role focuses on investigating mechanical failures across commercial, residential, and Amb industrial environments, determining root causes, and providing expert consulting to clients.
Base Pay Range$ – $ per year
Responsibilities- Conduct field investigations and failure analysis of mechanical systems and components.
- Inspect loss scenes at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Investigate damages and assess evidence to determine the origin of failures for insurers and litigation support.
- Analyze and document failure causation and produce detailed reports.
- Test evidence in a laboratory setting and research failure modes, products, installations, and maintenance related to findings.
- Collaborate with other experts to produce comprehensive loss and damage reports.
- Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions.
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in the state of residence (multi‑state licensing or an active NCEES Record is a plus).
- Experience in mechanical failure analysis including gas‑related fires, product liability, HVAC, plumbing, industrial machinery, boilers, hydraulics, compressors, cranes, or motor vehicles.
- Expert witness testimony experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
