Distribution Engineer

WSP is currently initiating a search for an experienced Distribution Engineer for our Baton Rouge, LA office. Be involved in projects with our Power and Energy Sector and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

• The qualified candidate should be familiar with the design and operation of utility electrical systems which they can apply their knowledge for developing new designs
• The ability to apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop the most complete and competent design
• Perform quality reviews of project deliverables
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

• A BSEE, BSEET, BSME or BSCE degree from an ABET accredited university, preferably with a power option
• Three (3)+ years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV烟)
• The qualified candidate should be experienced with utility standards, joint facilities design, compatible units, and construction package development
• Prior experience working closely with an electric utility or electric co‑op
• Familiarity with distribution design software, both overhead and underground, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices
• Strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

• Professional Engineering license (P.E.) or ability to achieve P.E. within six (6) months of hire date
• Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS精准) – GE Small world, ArcFM, DDS etc.
• The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
• Travel should be expected
