• Assist dentist and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
• Maintain and stock cabinets and carts.
• Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium, Schick CD R and computer knowledge).
• Give follow‑up home instructions as directed by dentist or students.
• Know dental terminology, correct nomenclature of all dental instruments, and be knowledgeable of computers.

• One year of experience or training as a dental assistant or dental hygienist.
• Core competencies include communicating effectively, focusing on customers, and following policies and procedures.
• Compliance with policies and procedures of the organization as well as State Civil Service rules, and all applicable federal and state laws.

Classified Probational.

This position may be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 or 2.

Monday – Friday; work hours will be determined by department.

This is a Civil Service Position. Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title and $14.06 per hour for Dental Assistant 1 title with an additional $2.25 per hour available for candidates that hold a current DANB certification.

Pre‑employment drug testing and criminal background check are required. This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
