About the Role

As GBRIA’s Financial & Operations Associate, you’ll play a key role in the daily business operations that keep our organization strong and successful. This position is ideal for a recent graduate who enjoys working with numbers, organizing details, learning new technologies, and being part of a mission-driven team.

You’ll manage financial processes, analyze and compile data and prepare reports, support events, and help maintain compliance and reporting systems while learning from experienced professionals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management and Human Resources
  • Manage daily accounting operations including entering invoices, processing payments, and managing collections for GBRIA and the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation (LCEF).
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for GBRIA and LCEF, including bank and investment accounts.
  • Track and reconcile event revenues, donations, and sponsor ships.
  • Coordinate the annual financial audit with GBRIA’s CEO and external audit partners.
  • Coordinate the annual tax return (990) preparation working with GBRIA’s CEO and external CPA’s.
  • Help maintain insurance policies, payroll relationships, and Human Resources (HR) documentation. Communicate with external HR providers as needed for insurance renewals, and employee renewals.
Operations & Event Support
  • Assist with planning and logistics for GBRIA events such as the Golf and Gumbo Fundraiser, Safety Excellence Awards, and other industry programs.
  • Help coordinate registration, sponsorship tracking, and on-site event operations.
  • Support committee meetings as needed with scheduling, member outreach, surveys, and materials preparation.
  • Help maintain accurate member and contact databases.
Technology & Process Improvement
  • Learn and apply software tools including Quick Books Online, Microsoft Office 365, Canva, Square, Trello, and Slack.
  • Explore and implement automation tools (Zapier, AI assistants like Copilot or ChatGPT) to improve workflows.
  • Develop dashboards or summary reports for leadership review and sharing with members, such as monthly Financial Summary for the Board.
  • Work closely with the President & CEO and GBRIA staff on shared projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Interact with member companies, vendors, and partners with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects, from idea to execution.

Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School plus Quick Books Online experience and some additional education/certification beyond high school in a bookkeeping/accounting or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Comfortable learning new software and online tools.
  • Positive, professional, and proactive communication style.
  • Team-oriented mindset and eagerness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred but not required, bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Internship or experience in accounting, business operations, or nonprofit management.
  • Interest in Louisiana’s industrial, petrochemical, or manufacturing sectors.
