Transport Planner | Batley, West Yorkshire

Role Profile

Our client is a fast-growing logistics business providing nationwide delivery solutions to a diverse customer base. They are now seeking an experienced and organised Transport Planner to join their dynamic team and ensure the smooth, efficient, and compliant running of daily operations.

In this key role, you'll be responsible for planning and coordinating deliveries and collections, optimising routes, managing resources, and ensuring excellent service levels across a mixed vehicle fleet. Working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams, you'll play a central part in maintaining operational excellence within a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and organise all deliveries and collections for the depot in the most efficient and cost‑effective way
  • Support additional depot planning as required by business needs
  • Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, including EU Drivers' Hours and local restrictions
  • Utilise multiple Transport Management Systems (TMS) to monitor performance and optimise routes
  • Respond to operational queries via TMS, email, and telephone
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to maintain excellent delivery performance
  • Keep accurate transport records and prepare reports as required
  • Identify and support opportunities for process improvement alongside the Planning Manager
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in transport planning or logistics (essential)
  • Multi-drop or multi-temperature experience
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Northern England & Scotland
  • Experience with Paragon (highly desirable) and Microlise (desirable) systems
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements
  • Calm under pressure and able to adapt to changing operational priorities
Hours of Work

Monday to Thursday 10:30am-19:30, Friday 12:00-21:00 (42.5 hours per week)
