Main duties of the jobAs a Registered Mental Health Nurse on Minster Ward, an acute adult inpatient ward, you will work alongside a team of nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and medics as part of a large multi-disciplinary team approach striving towards excellent patient care. You will be expected to carry out all aspects of patient care including medication, one to one time with patients, observations including physical health observations, co-ordination of the shift and, depending on experience, nurse in charge.

Each inpatient ward is fully equipped with activity and therapeutic spaces to enable patients to recover in a timely way so that they can be safely discharged back into their community with identified support packages.
About usFoss Park Hospital is a purpose built mental health hospital providing a range of services including 72 inpatient bedrooms with en-suite facilities for working age adults and older persons. Minster Ward (male ward) and Ebor Ward (female ward) are both 18 bedded wards.
The hospital has numerous vocational and therapeutic areas in a friendly, caring and therapeutic environment. The site provides inpatient care on four wards - two wards for working age adults and two wards for older adults.
Job responsibilitiesWe will support you by offering regular supervision, training opportunities and encourage your development and role within this developing team on the delivery of Patient Centred Care, support for carers and evidence based practice.
The successful applicant will be expected to work 12 hours shifts covering 24/7 days and nights and public holidays.

Person Specification Qualifications- Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD
- To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
- Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Working with people with mental ill health.
- Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
- Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Working in partnership with other agencies
- Evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
- Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Manage own time and prioritise effectively
- Motivate and work positively and assertively with other members of the team
- Demonstrates recovery focussed practice
