About the Madawaska School DepartmentThe Madawaska School Department serves students in grades PreK-12 in Madawaska, ME, the most Northeastern town in the United States, and one of the stops on the SCMA Four Corners Tour. The district has two (2) schools, the Madawaska Elementary School (PreK-6) a 2000-01 Nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School, and Madawaska Middle/High School (7-12), the 16th Ranked High School in Maine, according to the US News and World Report.

Job SummaryMadawaska Elementary School is seeking a dynamic, certified Physical Education (PE) educator to join our team for the school year and beyond. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a passion for promoting physical well‑being, health education, and positive student development for our PK‑grade 5 students.
The ideal candidate will- Have a working knowledge of the Maine Learning Results Standards and their alignment with Valley Unified Performance Indicators for Physical Education.
- Demonstrate a commitment to proficiency‑based education, including grading and assessment practices that support student growth.
- Integrate Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) into instruction and classroom management.
- Report on Habits of Work alongside academic progress to support whole‑child development.
- Apply strong classroom management strategies while supporting individualized student success.
- Incorporate cultural and regional activities into the curriculum when appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create cross‑curricular learning experiences that enhance student engagement.
- Be willing to support extra‑curricular opportunities, such as after‑school athletic clubs and wellness activities.
- Build partnerships with community and external organizations to promote health and wellness.
- Be able to maintain and access materials and equipment.
- Ideally, hold certification in health education in addition to Physical Education.

- Maine Department of Education Certification 510-Physical Education (PreK‑12)
- Maine CHRC (Criminal History Record Check)
Preferred:
- Maine Department of Education Certification 520 - Health (PreK‑12)
- Maine Department of Education Certification 512 - Health and PE (PreK‑12)
- Maine Department of Education Certification 515 - Adapted Physical Education (PreK‑12)
