An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Central Fleet Solutions (CFS) as Transport Manager.
CFS is a maintenance and haulage business based in Bathgate. We operate an in-house commercial workshop specialising in HGV and LCV repair and maintenance, alongside a growing haulage operation.
As part of our continued growth strategy, we are seeking an ambitious and driven Transport Manager to support and develop the haulage arm of the business.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Management Team, playing a key role in the day-to-day operation and strategic growth of the haulage arm. Initially, the role will focus on managing the existing team of drivers and fleet operations. As the business expands, the Transport Manager will assume responsibility for driver recruitment and the management of a growing transport team.
Key responsibilities Vehicle Maintenance- Work collaboratively with the in-house workshop to ensure all vehicles are serviced, maintained, and MOT’d in accordance with planned maintenance schedules
- Coordinate breakdown attendance with the workshop and service vans
- Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records in line with operator licence requirements
- Manage the existing pool of drivers, ensuring compliance with drivers’ hours and tachograph regulations
- Monitor driver performance and provide training and mentoring to minimise infringements
- Oversee drivers’ day-to-day activities to ensure schedules and operational commitments are met
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport legislation and regulatory requirements within the haulage sector
- Provide regular updates to the Senior Management Team on legislative changes and industry best practice
- Ensure Central Fleet remains fully compliant with all Operator Licence and DVSA requirements
- Work in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager to develop and implement robust transport-related health and safety procedures
- Investigate, document, and report all transport-related incidents and accidents, ensuring lessons learned are communicated to relevant staff
- Support senior management in identifying opportunities to expand and develop the haulage operation
- Produce operational and compliance reports using existing company systems
- Analyse and report on the profitability and performance of the haulage operation
