Lead Physical Preparation Coach to join World Class Programme at the National Training Centre in Bath.

• Design and implement the foundational framework for physical development, mapping athletes on their physical journey.
• Create and lead elite strength & conditioning programs that develop robust, dominant athletes capable of conquering the new Modern Pentathlon format.
• Work at the heart of a Multi‑Disciplinary Team, collaborating with the Lead Performance Coach and Sports Science & Medicine Team to blend training science and coaching for high‑performance.
• Lead sessions in the gym while supporting physical disciplines like Running, Swimming and Obstacle Course Racing.
• Shape the future of the sport by developing an S&C framework and delivering education to coaches and pathway athletes.
• Provide coaching support at camps and international competitions to ensure athletes execute when it matters most.

• Degree in Sports Science or a related field specializing in physical preparation.
• Extensive experience coaching elite athletes with a proven track record of using diagnostics to drive performance.
• Technical expertise in coaching lifting, managing training loads, and adapting programs based on data.
• A skilful communicator who can translate complex data into actionable insights for athletes and coaches alike.

• Higher degree or professional accreditation (UKSCA, NSCA CSCS).
• Specific coaching experience in Pentathlon disciplines or multisport roles.

Experience & Skills

• Extensive experience in strength & conditioning support and coaching to athletes to improve performance.
• Experience analysing the demands of a sport in relation to performance outcomes, identifying the strength & conditioning requirements, and using these to develop, implement and evaluate individual athlete programmes.
• Ability to coach athletes to make progressive physical changes in a structured and safe way and to technically coach lifting, design supplementary exercises and correct faults.
• Understanding of training science and recovery to achieve performance outcomes, particularly in a concurrent training and multi‑sport environment.
• Extensive experience of diagnostics and monitoring to inform the coaching process and modify training programmes.
• Knowledge of physiology and anatomy and implications of physical load on injury and recovery.
• Excellent coaching skills to motivate behavioural change and improve performance and the ability to adapt to individual learning styles and development needs.
• Understanding of needs of coaches and athletes in a high performance environment.
• Experience working with a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of physical preparation of athletes.
• Communication of complex data to be easily understood by different audiences.
