About

The Role

We wish to appoint a Research Assistant to undertake fundamental research on markets and regulation for energy networks to support accelerated energy transition. The successful candidate will join the EPSRC Supergen Hub for Energy Networks, addressing critical commercial and regulatory challenges that will allow network operators and owners to cope with growing renewables and flexibility, rising uncertainties and complexity from the rapidly changing energy landscape.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work closely with partnerships within and outside the Energy Networks Hub, collaborating with Bath colleagues engaged in advanced mathematics, statistics, computer science and other energy research areas. The role involves:

  • Conducting fundamental research on energy markets and regulation.
  • Modelling electrical and energy systems and performing analysis, operation or planning studies.
  • Applying a key interest in power system economics and network regulation.
  • Producing research outputs that support commercial and regulatory decision‑making.
Qualifications
  • Experience in electrical and energy systems modelling.
  • Experience in analyses, operation or planning of energy networks.
  • Strong interest in power system economics and network regulation.
Terms and Conditions of Employment

Full‑time (36.5 hours per week), fixed‑term basis for 12 months.
