The Process Technician is responsible for the operations of all assigned injection and blow molding machines. Typically, this will be between ten and fifteen machines. The Process Technician is responsible for meeting or exceeding productivity and quality standards within the area he or she is assigned.
This position requires a strong hands‑on and technical orientation to the injection or blow molding processes. The employee must be capable of processing a variety of materials into a consistent finished product.
ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
- Ensure that injection and blow molding machines, molds, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment are set‑up properly to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Effectively communicate with managers and coworkers on issues concerning quality, safety, and productivity.
- Coordinate with the molding labor leadership to ensure full machine and labor utilization.
- Recommend changes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Report machine and equipment malfunctions to support personnel.
- Provide training and guidance of the material handler assigned to his/her presses.
- Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.
- Ability to learn in‑house programs for BOM, shop order details, etc.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and set up functions to assist in job set ups.
- Pass a test for LOTO and follow all standard safety procedures involving LOTO.
- Support and practice all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times.

- Up to and including high school diploma. Specialized courses, seminars, training or background in trades such as pneumatics, hydraulics, plastic processing, etc, preferred. Three to five years of experience in this position. Knowledge of standard practices such as basic process control (start up, shutdown, etc) and mechanical principles (pressure, heat, vacuum, heat transfer, gas assist, etc). Knowledge of various power tool equipment (grinders, conveyors, chillers, scales, dryers, etc.)
