Overview
The salary range for this position is $18.84 - $24.49 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

This role is 30 hours a week. The Patient Services Representative reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Performs customer service functions in the medical practice office, ensuring the highest level of service to patients and company representatives over the phone and in person. Performs business office responsibilities.
- Greets patients, obtains required patient information, and performs patient registration, including verifying insurance information and collecting co-pays and outstanding balances.
- Obtains and updates patient demographic information from all patients and schedules appointments.
- Answers phone and schedules appointments; direct and document patient calls as appropriate.
- Coordinates scheduling of outside testing for patients and serves as liaison between patient and practice.
- Provides back-up for scheduling appointments and maintains patient safety and confidentiality in daily work.
- Completes daily reconciliation to ensure charges are entered correctly; pulls charts and readies them for next-day appointments; files completed patient charts daily.
- Files test/procedure results in the patient’s medical record after physician sign-off; liaises with company representatives or potential employees to ensure correct services are provided.
- Reviews Epic chart prior to patient appointments to ensure consents are within the past 12 months and the insurance card is current.
- Responds to medical record requests from patients, insurance companies, physician offices, subpoenas, and legal requests per protocol.
- Required:
High school diploma or GED. - 0 to 2 years of experience in a customer service position.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- One to three years of prior physician office experience.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
