Summary with Pay and Schedule
The City of Batavia is seeking a Public Safety Management Analyst to provide professional, analytical, and project-based support to both the Police and Fire Departments. This newly created position plays a key role in strengthening data-driven decision-making, operational planning, budgeting, and program evaluation across public safety services. The position is full-time and on-site, with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The hiring range is $81,881–$96,148 DOQ (full salary range to $112,902).
The position is classified as Pay Grade 13, exempt, and includes an excellent benefits package.
The Public Safety Management Analyst supports Police and Fire operations through data collection and analysis, project management, research, and reporting. Responsibilities include assisting with budgets and grants; developing reports, dashboards, and performance metrics; supporting compliance, accreditation, and records management efforts; coordinating contracts and vendor agreements; conducting policy and best-practice research; and supporting strategic planning, operational studies, and interdepartmental initiatives. The position requires frequent collaboration with staff, leadership, and external partners, as well as discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
QualificationsA bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, criminal justice, fire administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Prior experience in project management, data analysis, public safety administration, or municipal operations is preferred, with experience in police, fire, or emergency management environments strongly desired. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.

Knowledge of public safety operations and terminology; ability to analyze data and conduct detailed research; strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and projects; proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools; ability to maintain confidentiality; and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
Work ConditionsWork is performed primarily in an office environment with frequent interaction with others, prolonged periods of sitting, and occasional travel to municipal facilities, meetings, and trainings.
