We are seeking a creative, hands-on, deliverables-oriented operations-oriented mechanical or chemical engineer for this position based in Batavia, IL. In this role, you will join our world-class technical team to scale-up our novel process and have the opportunity to be part of creating and growing our values-first, mission-driven company.
Role Overview :This position spans project execution, process scale-up, and on-site facility support, with responsibilities ranging from pilot-scale build-outs to development of a Full-Scope Integrated Complex via a traditional EPC execution model. Reports to the Director of Engineering and collaborates closely across process development, manufacturing, and R&D teams.
Responsibilities:- Support engineering, R&D, and operations teams in building out new pilot operations at the Batavia facility.
- Develop intimate understanding of unit operations.
- Manage in-house projects with support from local contractors and OEMs.
- Improve schedule and cost compliance while maintaining a pragmatic, “build-first” execution approach.
- Fixed and rotating equipment design.
- Layout and plot planning.
- Structural support.
- Mechanical and piping interconnections.
- Lead project development of Savor’s first-of-a-kind commercial-scale facility through a traditional EPC-driven approach.
- Work in close partnership with process engineering during FEED to deliver a financeable project.
- Construction planning.
- EPC, licensor, and consultant coordination.
- Cross-discipline and OSBL/ISBL interfaces.
- Develop and implement facility improvement plans.
- Document and communicate results and work plan on a regular basis.
- Support other projects and team members as needed and available.
Skills:
- B.S. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field with 10+ years relevant experience.
- Direct project management of complex project(s) encompassing multiple unit operations and OSBL scope, ideally spanning from FEL1 through commissioning.
- 4+ years experience in on-site, client side, project engineering support is preferred.
- Experience working with external SMEs across engineering disciplines, as well as OEMs, Mechanical Shops, Fabricators, and others to retrofit existing PVs and piping systems.
- Knowledge and experience with relevant codes (ASME VIII, NFPA, etc) is preferred.
- Working knowledge of industrial controls systems and instrumentation.
- Comfort or interest in working with limited support on a blank canvas as well as taking projects from conception to operation.
- Desire to perform experiments and work in a manufacturing operations setting.
- Ability to follow rules and protocols and prioritize operations environment.
