Job Overview
The NDT Tech assigned as Level I Radiographer performs radiographic testing using radioactive sources or ionizing radiation generators in compliance with BAPETEN regulations and McDermott procedures, while supporting a strong safety culture under the supervision of a Level II Radiographer.
Essential Qualifications and Education- Holds BAPETEN Work License as RT Level I
- Be occupationally qualified and certified as RT Level I to internationally recognized schemes to determine competency (i.e., PCN, CSWIP, ASNT, etc.) requirements.
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent in a science or technical field
- Minimum three plus (3+) years in Radiography Testing
- Proficient in assessing examination results accurately, sentencing welds, and reporting same, according to the relevant code/spec acceptance criteria
- Comply with all applicable radiation safety and protection requirements as outlined in BAPETEN regulations and McDermott procedures, while actively promoting and maintaining a safety culture within the work environment.
- Use radiation protection equipment correctly and consistently, including personal dosimeters, shielding devices, and other protective tools.
- Perform radiographic testing activities strictly in accordance with approved work instructions and operational procedures,under the supervision of RT Level II.
- Assist in the preparation and handling of radiographic equipment under the supervision of RT Level II personnel.
- Follow health monitoring protocols and ensure personal dose monitoring is conducted as required.
- Immediately report and provide feedback to the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) regarding any radiation-related incidents, unsafe conditions, near-misses, or challenges that may impact the effectiveness of the Radiation Protection and Safety Program.
- Notify the RSO and Permit Holder or their designee of any health symptoms potentially related to radiation exposure.
- Inform the Permit Holder of past and current work history related to radiation exposure, as required by regulatory provisions.
- Ensure that all testing activities are conducted within designated controlled areas and that unauthorized personnel are excluded during operations.
- Maintain discipline and adherence to safety protocols within the radiation work area.
- Submit radiographic testing results (exposured film) to the RT Level II Technician for review and further process.
- Participate in ongoing education and training programs to enhance knowledge and competency in radiation protection and safety.
- Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to maintain awareness and competency in radiation safety and operational procedures.
- Exhibit advanced proficiency in handling radiographic equipment and executing operational procedures efficiently.
- Perform complex radiographic tasks with minimal supervision, while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Proactively support the identification and communication of safety enhancements within the work environment.
- Actively contribute to the development and training of junior personnel through guidance and knowledge sharing.
