This position is in District 05/Office of Operations/Unit 215 Morehouse Parish/Bastrop, LA of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Construction Inspection Supervisor. The overall function of this position is to inspect and oversee subordinate inspectors on construction projects in all phases of the construction project. The incumbent must be self‑motivated and be able to perform duties many times without supervision or with minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.
The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

- Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
- Six months of experience in sub‑professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of experience in construction inspection or experience in the maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, or associated structures; OR
- Twenty‑four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or construction technology; OR
- Possession of an engineer intern certificate.
- Serve as lead worker over lower‑level construction inspectors.
- Reviews plans, specifications and contracts on assigned project to verify that the contractor's personnel are in compliance.
- Compiles the required field data and reports in preparing partial estimates on assigned project.
- Performs leadership duties in assisting subordinates on assigned projects in sampling and testing of construction items.
- May be required to lift items up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to perform duties in extreme weather conditions.

Monday‑Thursday from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM
