Shifts:

40 hours per week, Week 1:
Sunday - Thursday, Week 2:
Sunday to Friday. Start times between 5 - 8 pm.

Salary: £39,582 plus benefits listed below.

Job Purpose: We are looking for an experienced Class 2 LGV driver, who will work from our site in Basingstoke. The job role is to ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled products and invoices to the customer within corporate guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • To maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.
  • To have a daily check to ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition including a check of the lights, brakes, coolant, etc.
  • To report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
  • To abide by all tachograph laws and ensure daily/weekly rests are taken as required.
  • Ensure all Proof of Deliveries listed on drop sheets have been delivered to customers and report any shortages to the transport department before leaving the customer.
  • Upon receipt of collection request, collect goods returned from external customers as instructed by the transport staff.
  • To maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with the cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • To ensure sufficient quantities of fuel have been taken for the day’s work.
  • To maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
  • To check all orders shown on the dropsheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.
  • Ensure all trailer seal numbers are logged before departure and before opening at the service centre or external customer.
  • Ensure damages/breakages are dealt with promptly and correctly with due regard to special procedures for Haz Chems.
  • To maintain a smart appearance at all times.
  • To help maintain good customer relations.
  • To maintain at all times good communications with the transport staff.
  • To be involved in other duties as may be defined from time to time by the Management.
  • Meet all Health & Safety requirements.

Manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are “essential requirements” of this role.

Requirements

Drivers are required to maintain a smart appearance due to their constant interaction with external customers.

  • Experience:

    Minimum 2 years of Class 2 driving experience.
  • Skills:

    Excellent customer care and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Attributes:
    Smart appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and a flexible approach to work.
  • Intermediate numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks (lifting and bending) as required. No reasonable adjustments will be made for applicants unable to perform such duties.
  • Will be required to apply for a DPA police check if successful at interview.
Essential
  • A full driving license relevant to the vehicle being driven.
  • Existing employees must update fleet services for any changes to their licence status (e.g., points, driving bans).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer care.
  • Intermediate numeracy and literacy.
  • Previous experience of multi‑drop delivery driving is highly desirable.
  • Route planning experience.
